Telecentre Refurbishment

WA Telecentre Projects Fund Grant
for Refurbishment of Broome Telecentre
The interior of Broome Telecentre hadn’t been painted for more than 9 years so it was looking very scruffy. The carpet has not been replaced since the building was first put up in the late1980’s. It was excessively worn & ripped in places. Some improvements were long overdue. We applied for a Telecentre Projects Fund Grant to help with the costs of the planned refurbishment, and as a goodwill gesture the landlord supported the project by getting the carpet replaced.
The grant was used to help fund the project through the following activities:
- packing up of all the Telecentre equipment, books etc. into boxes ready for removal
- taking down all pictures, posters etc. from the wall in readiness for painting
- removal & storage of all the contents by a removal company
- painting of the interior
- carpeting of the interior
- return of all stored goods by removalist company
- un-packing & re-assembling all the Telecentre equipment etc.
The removal, painting, carpeting & return of goods was timetabled for a two week period in early January so as to eliminate as much business “down-time” as possible.
Amazingly enough all went as planned. The gear was packed up & stored, then the painting & the carpeting was carried out. The return of the gear & re-assembly was probably the hardest part. Everything had to be cleaned & freshened up, display areas re-assembled etc., etc.
Broome Telecentre staff worked hard to enhance the professional appearance of the Telecentre ......and it’s all been worth it! The staff and local community can now enjoy a pleasant environment that reflects the services that we provide to the community.
